About The Position

The Front Desk Agent serves as the primary point of contact for guests at the hotel, responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process. This role involves a variety of tasks including managing reservations, handling guest inquiries, and coordinating with other departments to meet guest needs throughout their stay.

Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to think independently and work well without supervision
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
  • Team player with a 'can do' attitude
  • High school or equivalent education (Preferred)
  • 1 year of hotel experience (Preferred)
  • Ability to relocate to Ashburn, VA 20148 before starting work (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Registers guests and assigns rooms
  • Accommodates special requests whenever possible
  • Thoroughly understands and adheres to proper credit and cash-handling policies and procedures
  • Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates
  • Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and promote other services of the hotel
  • Has working knowledge of the phone system: Answer, transfer, hold, and extension numbers
  • Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all checkouts, late check-outs, early check-ins, special requests, and part-day rooms
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the reservations procedures
  • Takes same day reservations and future reservations
  • Processes guest check-outs
  • Follows all Be Our Guest standards
  • Reads and writes any information in the front desk communication tool, ShiftNote and is aware of daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel
  • Knows all safety and emergency procedures
  • Is aware of accident prevention policies
  • Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area, breakfast area, and common spaces
  • Any other reasonable request made by management, including: Driving Hotel Shuttle, Food Preparation, Delivering Requested Items to Guest Rooms
