The position involves responding in a professional and courteous manner to arriving, departing, and in-house guests by providing accurate and timely information and services. The role includes handling telephone and in-person inquiries regarding reservations, hotel information, and guest concerns. The job requires greeting guests, completing check-in procedures, facilitating guest departures, and maintaining good customer relations by being knowledgeable about in-house and area functions.

  • Greets and completes established check-in procedures for arriving guests using both manual and computerized methods.
  • Facilitates guest departure (check-out) by following established procedures to close guest accounts and open rooms for the next sell.
  • Calculates and posts monies, receipts, guest accounts, and other forms of credit using proper cash handling methods.
  • Answers inquiries and accepts reservations in person and by telephone, communicating hotel rates and using suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maintains good customer relations by keeping abreast of all in-house and area functions to answer questions and concerns.
  • Operates PBX equipment by accepting incoming calls, assisting outgoing calls, scheduling wake-up calls, and paging guests.
  • Controls cash transactions at the front desk and maintains responsibility for personal bank as specified by hotel policy.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have high school graduate level mathematical aptitude and knowledge of standard cash handling procedures.
  • Must have past experience in dealing directly with the public and general knowledge of basic customer service skills.
  • Must be fluent in oral and written English.
  • Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with customer service problems.
