About The Position

The Fresh Inventory Coordinator is responsible for ensuring daily inventory accuracy and operational control of fresh produce, bulk commodities, and finished goods within the facility. This role coordinates daily cycle counts, monitors inventory transactions, oversees internal product movements, and ensures proper rotation, aging, and allocation of inventory in compliance with food safety and traceability standards. This position works cross-functionally with Supply, Production, Shipping, and Warehouse teams to maintain accurate real-time inventory levels and ensure efficient product flow. The role also partners closely with forklift operators and other inventory coordinators to execute daily inventory control processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years of inventory control experience (fresh produce or food manufacturing strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of inventory control practices (FIFO/FEFO, lot tracking, cycle counts).
  • ERP/WMS system experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership potential and ability to coordinate team activities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute daily cycle counts for fresh produce, bulk commodities, packaging, and finished goods.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/WMS systems.
  • Investigate, reconcile, and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances.
  • Monitor real-time inventory levels to prevent shortages, overstocking, and aging risk.
  • Ensure proper lot tracking, FIFO/FEFO rotation, and full traceability compliance.
  • Verify inventory transactions for accuracy (receipts, transfers, adjustments, allocations, shipments).
  • Coordinate internal movements of bulk commodities and finished goods within the facility.
  • Monitor product age, rotation compliance, and quality holds.
  • Track inbound commodity receipts from growers and suppliers.
  • Ensure proper allocation of finished goods to meet shipping and customer requirements.
  • Monitor shrink, waste, and yield reporting; escalate concerns as needed.
  • Support commodity usage reporting and production reconciliation.
  • Work closely with forklift drivers and warehouse personnel to ensure proper product placement and movement.
  • Partner with Supply, Shipping, and Production teams to ensure material availability and on-time order fulfillment.
  • Coordinate receiving, put-away, transfers, and outbound inventory activities.
  • Assist with load verification and documentation prior to shipment.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and product identification.
  • Generate daily and weekly inventory accuracy reports.
  • Communicate discrepancies and aging risks to leadership.
  • Track inventory KPIs (accuracy %, shrink %, cycle count performance, aging inventory, etc.).
  • Support physical inventories and internal/external audits.
  • Maintain organized documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety, quality, and traceability standards (GFSI, HACCP, FDA, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support audit readiness.
  • Support internal investigations related to inventory or traceability issues.
