The Investigator, Fraud analyzes leads for suspicious activity, including those generated from detection software and internal referrals. This position conducts complex investigations (under established monetary threshold) aimed at identifying criminal activities and gathers evidentiary information to maintain comprehensive case files. Primary Responsibilities: Coordinate investigations with other investigators, law enforcement and financial institutions Partnering with Bank Secrecy Act team to refer cases for Suspicious Activity Reports Review suspicious and fraudulent activity to determine optimal resolution, including member liability and criminal filings Document and report evidence and filings, prepare files for police reports with law enforcement agencies, and prepare for and attend court proceedings Monitor fraud risk tools escalations and assist in the updating of detection and analytics tools, internal policies, and procedures Review and analyze escalations from Fraud Specialists, branches, internal audit, contact center, and other departments throughout the credit union Observe industry trends to develop and enhance areas of exposure, increased risk, and insufficient controls Forecast how fraud events related to a breach or compromise will affect the portfolio Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions providing support to counterparties and can act as intelligence support and coordinate investigations Perform root cause/incident analysis for specific fraud events and near misses
