About The Position

Junior Achievement of South Florida (JA) empowers our youth with the knowledge, ability, and confidence to navigate their futures, drive our economy and lead our community. JA provides real-world training in financial literacy including budgeting, spending, investing and the use of credit; offers cutting-edge skill-building opportunities that enable young people to explore meaningful, productive careers; teaches students how to start businesses; and introduces entrepreneurial values that strengthen workplaces. Last year, with the help of over 7,100 trained corporate and community volunteers, JA delivered over 20 various programs to almost 50,000 students in classrooms throughout Broward and south Palm Beach counties and at JA World Huizenga Center at the Lillian S. Wells Pavilion, a first-class facility housing JA BizTown and JA Finance Park. As a Fractional HR Generalist, your primary focus will be on overseeing administrative and operational HR functions while supporting staff development, ensuring compliance, and fostering a positive organizational culture. You will collaborate closely with the COO and an external HR partner to help ensure all areas of Human Resources are effectively managed. This role is well-suited for someone who thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven environment, enjoys streamlining processes, and is adept at supporting employees across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrates strong administrative and organizational capabilities, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills; able to build trust and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Capable of leading professional development efforts while cultivating a positive, values-driven workplace culture.
  • Proficient in HR systems, databases, and technology tools, with a willingness to leverage innovative solutions, including AI, to enhance and streamline HR processes.
  • You enjoy working with data and details, spotting trends, risks, and opportunities to improve HR processes.
  • You’re comfortable working independently, use sound judgment, and can confidently navigate complex or sensitive HR situations.
  • You’re at ease with HR technology and open to learning and using new tools to work more efficiently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role supporting full-time, part-time, and temporary employees.
  • Experience in employee relations, performance management, and handling sensitive HR issues with discretion and professionalism.

  • Background in coordinating with vendors or third-party partners is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • HR Administration and Operations Administer HR processes for full-time, part-time, seasonal staff, and interns, for the full employee life cycle including recruiting, onboarding, training, offboarding, employee records, and benefits administration.
  • Partner with the Finance Director on payroll-related matters; ensure accurate execution and alignment with HR records.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff regarding HR policies, procedures, and general inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Professional Development and Engagement Oversee professional development initiatives for staff, including workshops, training sessions, and performance support programs.
  • Foster and sustain a positive, values-driven work environment that encourages employee engagement and collaboration .
  • Compliance and Risk Management Administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances, including providing reasonable accommodation, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and assisting with terminations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as recommended HR best practices, review policies and practices regularly.
  • Collaborate with the Community Outreach Manager to ensure volunteer practices comply with applicable laws.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law.
  • Vendor and Partner Management Manage relationships with external HR service providers by assigning responsibilities, leading initiatives, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of HR services.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the organization and HR vendors to address issues and drive process improvements.
  • Other Responsibilities Support hiring efforts for employees and seasonal interns, including onboarding coordination and ensuring adherence to orientation and compliance standards.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as needed.
