We have an exciting opportunity for an FPGA Design Engineer to join the Microelectronics Team within the Electrical Engineering organization. Electrical Engineering drives business success by providing a variety of critical engineering tasks across multiple Raytheon product lines and functions. The FPGA Design Engineer is part of a key role within the Engineering organization responsible for developing the electronics for defense system products. We engage at the outset of the system development and follow our designs through deployment. Our team helps develop the requirements and bring concepts to life. Our products are deployed all over the world, on the ground, into the atmosphere, and out into space. The FPGA Products team within the Microelectronics Department is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, integration, and documentation of deliverable firmware and FPGA embedded processing. The position is an on-site role for the McKinney, TX location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) degree.
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • Experience with digital design and VHDL or Verilog coding
  • Experience with AMD Xilinx, Intel Altera, or Microchip FPGAs
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Experience working with lab equipment, such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Familiarity with the Linux environment
  • Knowledge of other programming and scripting languages, such as C, C++, Python, Matlab

Responsibilities

  • Develop FPGA designs for all major vendors and device families including: AMD Xilinx, Intel Altera, and Microchip
  • Implement designs using VHDL for high-speed serial interfaces, RF interfaces, DSP algorithms, controls, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces
  • Work with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements, architect new designs, collaboratively model algorithms, partition and perform code development, simulation, and implementation
  • Verify designs against requirements via simulation and other verification methods
  • Provide design support from requirements definition through integration and test, including design documentation and configuration management
