About The Position

Post-graduate interns will report to the Four Diamonds Development staff to raise awareness of the organization and educate the community to help conquer childhood cancer. This role will also work closely with the entire Four Diamonds team, colleagues in Development, Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital, the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON™), Mini-THON® schools, community partners, and volunteers to support fundraising, stewardship, and marketing priorities that contribute to the organization’s overarching goals. Primary duties, based on each individual’s skillsets and future career goals, could include: Help thank and recognize Four Diamonds supporters and volunteers through rotational hospital tours, sharing the impact of dollars raised. Articulate Penn State’s needs, ambitions and values, including diversity, equity and inclusion, through excellent informal and formal communications. Support campaigns and event logistics (in-person and/or virtual). Attend development staff meetings and serve as an ambassador of Four Diamonds and Penn State Health Children’s Hospital at Four Diamonds’ events (in Hershey, Pa., and State College, Pa.). Assist with fundraising strategies and operations of Four Diamonds through four core areas: Communications – assist with social media, video creation, newsletters, website updates and online community support. Digital fundraising – assist with Four Diamonds’ online giving platform (DonorDrive®), Storefront, Power BI data analysis, and creation and distribution of email campaigns. Fundraising program support – assist with specific needs of Mini-THON®, Lion’s Club partners, as well as other fundraising groups through outreach, resource creation and event planning. Volunteer and family engagement – assist in execution of grateful family outreach, coordination of family speakers and other special opportunities, and collaboration on THON events taking place at the Children's Hospital. This part-time, hourly paid position is for one year and based in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Requirements

  • Be a recent college graduate or expected to graduate this Spring.
  • Be available three days a week from 9 am – 5 pm, though this will fluctuate based on time-specific needs.
  • Respect confidentiality and adhere to all Four Diamonds and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center policies.
  • Have a dedication to and understanding of the skills required to build relationships with diverse communities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Be responsible, accommodating, flexible, warm, and hospitable with exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team with a strong attention to detail and willingness to adopt processes.
  • Be committed to professional development, learning, and being mentored.
  • Have a minimum college GPA of 3.0.
