The Foundry Operator is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the aluminum casting process, including working with molds, molten aluminum, shake-out machines, and related equipment. This role requires close attention to safety, part specifications, and quality standards to ensure the consistent production of high-quality castings.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand instructions and complete required documentation.
6–12 months of prior foundry experience preferred.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Safely carry molten aluminum in ladles (up to 75 lbs.) from furnaces to molds.
Pour molten aluminum into molds, ensuring the sprue is kept filled at all times.
Degas metal, skim ladles, and ensure aluminum is clean prior to pouring.
Operate shake-out machines, cranes, and hoists to remove castings from molds.
Use hand tools (wire brush, sledgehammer, etc.) to remove sand, risers, and gates from molds.
Perform visual inspection of castings to ensure adherence to specifications and quality guidelines.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Follow all prescribed safety rules and use required PPE at all times.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
