Perform a wide variety of duties throughout the foundry areas following standard procedures and/or work instructions. Transport materials, castings, and/or equipment with either a fork truck or payloader. Use a variety of rough grinding equipment, portable hand power tools, and bench grinders as necessary to remove parting lines, gates, risers, flash, and other surface defects as prescribed. Change own small inspect grinding wheels or bits or dress wheels as necessary according to job requirement or when worn, place prescribed wheel or abrasive belt on the machine or select wheels or belts within narrow limits. Operate other power equipment to cut sprues, gates, risers, and runners. Operate bandsaw and change blade as required. Operate power vac, repair ladles, dump and shakeout molds, hook off and shovel castings, etc. Setup and operate automatic molding machines as assigned and/or following work instructions. Operate shot blast cleaning equipment. Fill small cavities with lab metal and smooth and patch surface imperfections within Q.C. standards and operate automatic floor sweeper. Perform minor maintenance duties such as tightening loose parts (spray nozzles, etc.), replacing parts (sprues, etc.), clean assigned work area. Detect and report all defective materials; refer questionable cases to proper supervision and follow prescribed or standard safety regulations.
