Founding Full Stack Engineer
About The Position
On behalf of an early-stage, venture-backed AI startup, we are hiring a Founding Engineer to help build the infrastructure behind AI agents that automate recruiting end-to-end. This company is replacing traditional job boards and manual sourcing with intelligent agents that identify passive candidates, initiate conversations, qualify them, and schedule interviews automatically. They have raised pre-seed funding and already operate at marketplace scale (40K+ talent profiles and hundreds of startup customers). The next phase requires infrastructure that can scale 100x. You will work directly with the founding CTO and ship production systems weekly. This is not a maintenance role — you will design and own core systems from day one.
Requirements
- Experience building production systems at scale
- Comfortable across frontend and backend development
- Strong understanding of LLM systems (RAG, embeddings, agent frameworks)
- Ability to ship quickly with incomplete information
- Experience building something end-to-end (startup, side project, or internal product)
- Strong problem-solving and systems design capability
Responsibilities
- Candidate Data Infrastructure: Build large-scale pipelines to normalize resumes, LinkedIn, and GitHub data; Use LLMs to extract skills, seniority, and experience; Handle high-volume outbound messaging (10K+ messages/day); Improve data accuracy beyond keyword search limitations
- Agentic Conversation System: Develop AI agents that message candidates via SMS and chat; Enable agents to answer compensation and role questions accurately; Handle objections and qualify candidates autonomously; Ensure responses feel human and contextually correct
- Real-Time Matching Engine: Build sub-100ms matching systems for role-to-candidate alignment; Implement semantic search using embeddings; Account for contextual weighting (e.g., company stage, tenure relevance); Optimize performance and scale
