About The Position

As part of the small and fast-growing Operations function at Northslope, you'll own the operational, regulatory, and many other pieces of the foundational infrastructure that keeps the company running smoothly while we scale to 200+ employees. This isn't a role where you follow standard playbooks or rely on "how things are usually done." You'll build systems and processes that actually make sense for Northslope, balancing the needs of the team, operational efficiency, regulatory and compliance requirements, and our bias toward speed. Day to day, you'll manage everything from visa sponsorship coordination and state compliance to NDA review, supplier onboarding, and office space management. Take them on, get reps in them, and figure out how to make them all work better. You'll be the point person for state agency requests and correspondence, work closely with our law firm on many legal and operational matters, coordinate GDPR and other regulatory compliance work, and ensure we're meeting all our obligations across US, UK, and Canadian jurisdictions. You'll also manage our physical office footprint, including lease negotiations, space planning, and expansion into new locations. And you'll move fast, juggling many concurrent workstreams while maintaining a high bar for quality and risk management. This role requires someone who is deeply entrepreneurial, takes complete ownership of problems from start to finish, and operates with minimal oversight. You'll need to learn quickly across unfamiliar domains (immigration law, state-level employer compliance, commercial real estate, website management, finance), make decisions autonomously, and constantly iterate to improve how we handle operational complexity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of operations experience , ideally at a high-growth startup or fast-paced company. You've owned complex operational projects and have battle scars from scaling through rapid growth.
  • End-to-end outcome owner . You don't just coordinate or track tasks. You own problems completely, from understanding requirements through execution and follow-through. You're accountable for getting things done, not just managing the process.
  • Entrepreneurial ownership mindset . You don't need detailed instructions or constant check-ins. You see a problem, you own it end-to-end, and you drive it to completion. You're comfortable operating with ambiguity and building systems from scratch.
  • Excited about operational complexity . You're genuinely energized by the work of keeping a growing business running smoothly across multiple jurisdictions. Visa sponsorship, state compliance, office leases, and legal coordination aren't chores to you, they're interesting puzzles to solve.
  • Exceptional operational execution . You can juggle many concurrent workstreams without dropping balls. You're hyper-organized, detail-oriented, and maintain high quality even when moving fast.
  • Bias toward iteration . You ship quickly, gather feedback, and improve continuously. Nothing is ever "set it and forget it." You're always looking for ways to make things better.
  • Strong communication and judgment . You build trust easily with employees, vendors, and external partners. You know when to escalate issues and when to handle them independently. You can synthesize complex information and explain it clearly.
  • Comfortable with multi-jurisdictional complexity . We have employees across the US, UK, and Canada, with operations in 10+ US states. You're energized (not overwhelmed) by managing compliance, legal, and operational work across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Fast, curious learner . You'll encounter unfamiliar domains (immigration law, commercial leases, state-level compliance, international regulations). You're comfortable diving in and figuring things out quickly.
  • Strong preference for working in-person from our New York office. We believe in-person collaboration makes us stronger, and we're building an office culture people want to be part of. Remote candidates will be considered but in-person is strongly preferred.
