About The Position
Foster Care Family Visitation Coach (Part-Time)...... Support Families. Strengthen Bonds. Make a Difference! Are you passionate about helping families reconnect and heal? We’re looking for a dedicated Part-Time Foster Care Visitation Coach to supervise and support family visits for children in foster care in Kent, Moncalm and Ionia counties. In this essential role, you’ll create safe, structured environments where children and their families can rebuild trust and strengthen relationships. Your guidance will help ensure each visit is meaningful, respectful, and focused on the child’s well-being.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in human services or related field required or high school degree and 2 years of experience in a human services field
- Knowledge of child development
- Automobile travel required. Valid unrestricted driver’s license with good driving record required. Valid proof of automobile insurance required
- Use of a safe and clean vehicle
- Ability to work a flexible schedule or nontraditional hours
- Must be available at least two days per week during afternoon and evening hours
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of experience in a day care setting or school setting strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Using a strengths-based model, coach parents on needed parenting skills by modeling, instructing, and prompting
- Assist parents in identifying their goals for visitations and follow up to review progress and reinforce strengths
- Intervene as necessary to ensure child safety and ensure content of conversations is appropriate
- Provide transportation for foster children to and from family visits
- Supervise children during appointments either at home, office or at other appropriate sites
- Observe parent/child interactions and closely document. Report strengths and concerns to the social worker with case responsibility
- Provide auxiliary services related to center’s foster care program in accordance with center, division, organization, and contract requirements
