Our Foster Care program provides treatment, training, and homes for children in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Many of our families live in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Newport News, and Hampton. We are proud to place children into stable and loving foster parents homes and we work to ensure that a good fit between the foster family and the child. As a Foster Care Case Worker you would provide case management services to children in our Foster Care program. These services include treatment and service planning, monitoring and oversight to ensure that children receive safe, appropriate and structured care as well as coordination of services for the child. Furthermore, as a member of our Foster Care team you would help to provide an exceptional service to all parties involved as well as act as a liaison with providers such as the juvenile and domestic relations courts, schools, families and other applicable agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Human Services or related filed (including but not limited to sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling)
  • A minimum of two years experience in providing casework services to children and families
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with others
  • Knowledge of growth and development in children, adolescents, and developmentally disabled youth.
  • A commitment to quality and excellent customer service
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Foster Care Case Worker experience is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as resource person and provide counsel to children and families during all aspects from placement and discharge
  • Establishes and maintains professional and supportive relationships with youth, resource families, birth families, referring personnel, and providers
  • Regularly meets with youth/families to conduct visits/sessions to ensure safety and welfare of the child as well as provide on-going case management services and skill development.
  • Maintain proper documentation of cases, notes, and/or records in accordance to the treatment plan and organizational policies
  • Support foster parents and children to help ensure quality outcomes and safety
