Through our treatment and medically fragile foster care programs, we offer placement for children who need a loving, safe home. Our foster caregivers receive extensive training and support and are licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. This role includes securing all necessary documents, submitting home studies, interviewing families, conducting assessments and any corresponding function completed as a foster care and adoption assessor. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling required.
  • Ohio LSW or LPC preferred, not required.
  • Assessor certification Certified adoption assessor or eligible. If assessor eligible must become certified within 6 months.
  • Experience with completing home study in SACWIS, preferred
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance
  • Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis test, and drug screening
  • English reading and writing skills required
  • Attention to detail and confidentiality required.
  • Requires typing and computer competency, including Windows applications for moderate levels of typing (case notes and other paper work).
  • Ability to manage own time and schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews all family members during the home study process.
  • Secures all necessary documents which include but are not limited to: medical statements, fire inspections, background checks, income statements, marriage certificates, well water test and safety audits.
  • Assist adoption applicants in collecting supplemental information forms, adoptee’s physical forms and vital statistics forms.
  • Organizes all information and writes home study based on observations, interviews and gathered documents.
  • Complete at least 2 home studies per month
  • Submits completed home study to supervisor within 90 days from 1st assignment.
  • Complete recertification’s based on the expirations dates
  • At time of need, may conduct Recertification Assessment which is to be completed in 30 days from first assignment.
  • Audits Foster Parent Files
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes.
  • Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and present the agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.
