SUMMARY OF ROLE The Adoptions Coordinator works with the adoptions team and volunteers to find live outcomes for the animals in our care PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Outcomes Support ? Hold primary responsibility for scheduling and planning adoptions outside of the main campus. ? Support adoptions at main campus as needed ? Provide excellent customer service at all times to both internal and external customers. ? Assist potential adopters in the selection of appropriate animals; conducting introductions as needed. ? Counsel potential adopters on responsible pet ownership; explain the Shelter’s adoption procedures and guidelines; interview all potential adopters. ? Contribute to development of training materials as required. ? Provide constructive feedback to leadership to help improve shelter policies and protocols. Volunteer Supervision ? With the Volunteer Coordinator, recruit, train, and retain offsite volunteers. ? Coordinate volunteer participation in offsite adoption events. ? Facilitate volunteer participation in maintaining offsite animal kennels Off Campus Responsibilities ? Communicate with staff and volunteers to execute successful offsite adoption events ? Lead offsite adoptions, select animals, coordinate handling and counseling support, ensure appropriate and accurate records are maintained ? Ensure mobile adoptions vehicles and off-campus kennel work areas are welcoming and safe ? Independent decision making and problem solving when off campus ? Maintain adequate inventory of supplies for the PetSmart and off-site events. Core Responsibilities ? Model our Guiding Principles and Rules of Engagement at all times, including holding all team members accountable to them. ? Safe and humane handling of animals consistent with Fear Free Shelter standards (training provided). ? Schedule flexibility and reliability ? Regular attendance is a requirement of this job including weekends. ? Report and track animal health and behavior issues; immediately reporting any concerns to appropriate staff. ? Knowledge of shelter policies, procedures and programs ? An understanding that SFAS is a managed admissions facility and the euthanasia and cremation of animals are regular functions of the Shelter. ? Participate in on-going education/training when required. ? Process adoption paperwork and enter adoptions into the database on a regular basis in an accurate and efficient manner. ? Maintain an accurate filing system, receive adoption fees, record transactions and reconcile monies daily. ? Other duties assigned.
