Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)
About The Position
Our client is a rapidly scaling, venture-backed AI company transforming insurance claims processing—one of the largest and most complex workflows in the global economy. Their platform uses multimodal AI agents to automate claims, improve accuracy, and significantly reduce operational costs for major insurers. With multi–seven-figure revenue in under a year, strong product-market fit, and backing from top-tier investors, the company is entering a high-growth phase. This is an opportunity to work on applied AI systems that directly impact real-world business outcomes at scale. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy operating at the intersection of technology and customers—deploying AI systems in real-world environments while shaping product direction in a fast-growing company.
Requirements
- 1–5 years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role (FDE, solutions engineering, etc.)
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Experience building and shipping production systems
- Background in VC-backed startups or high-growth environments
- Experience working with APIs, integrations, and external systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with senior stakeholders
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco
Nice To Haves
- Experience with AI/LLM systems, prompt engineering, or agent-based architectures
- Prior experience in forward deployed, solutions engineering, or consulting-like roles
- Background in insurance, fintech, or other operationally complex industries
- Strong academic background (top CS programs or equivalent)
- Entrepreneurial mindset with high ownership
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end deployment of AI systems for enterprise customers, from scoping to go-live
- Work directly with clients to understand workflows and design technical solutions
- Build and deploy multimodal AI agents , including prompt engineering and model integration
- Develop custom solutions and integrations using Python, APIs, and client systems
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customer stakeholders
- Translate real-world business problems into scalable product features
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve core platform capabilities
- Capture learnings and build internal playbooks to scale deployment processes
