About The Position

2026 Summer Internship — FORTIFIED AI Training Internship The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) is seeking interns to join our team this summer. As an IBHS intern, you’ll contribute to our mission of strengthening homes, businesses, and communities against severe weather—which means making a difference in the lives of real people. Purpose: Build a complete, clean, quality-verified image library showing exactly how each FORTIFIED documentation checkpoint should be captured in the field. Project Summary The intern gathers, organizes, and categorizes representative samples of documentation photos from: FORTIFIED submissions Auditor archives Training materials Field teams Providers They standardize these photos by sorting and organizing all the photos into clear categories for each phase using the FORTIFIED Documentation Checklist. They also prepare a dataset optimized for future AI training, ensuring IBHS can automate detection of complete vs. incomplete submissions. This data set will also be used to develop future training assets. Key Deliverables 1. Structured photo library (tagged, indexed, deduped, and quality-checked). 2. Checklist-aligned galleries showing: Correct documentation Incorrect examples (where appropriate and anonymized) 3. Metadata spreadsheet documenting. 4. AI-ready dataset arranged by use case (classification, detection, quality scoring). Skill Development for Intern Digital asset management Construction/roofing literacy Visual classification and quality assessment Introductory AI dataset practices Collaboration with AI programming, engineering and QA teams Why This Matters Accurate photo documentation is the foundation of FORTIFIED (We get what we inspect (document), not what we expect). Creating a gold-standard library improves training, reduces errors, accelerates reviews, and lays the foundation for AI-enhanced quality assurance

  • All positions are located on site, five days/week at the named location.
  • Ability to commute/relocate: Tampa, FL Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Responsibilities
