About The Position

The Formulator/Nutritionist is responsible for implementing and supporting the formulation of custom premixes and feed additives for both internal and external customers. Formulation includes creating formulas to specification, creating and maintaining labels, and evaluating the use of rework or alternative ingredients. In addition, this position will also provide technical support for Nutra Blend across multiple departments including sales and customers, manufacturing, and quality. Collaborating cross functionally and maintaining a professional interface between the customer and the business is essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • 4 yr. degree in Agriculture (Animal Science or related field of study preferred).
  • 5 years of nutritional experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A Masters degree in animal nutrition is preferred; however, experience may offset the need.
  • Related formulation experience and related software experience highly desired.
  • Knowledge of premix formulation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage new, revised, and current products, with a large focus being swine and poultry formulas, using formulation and nutrition expertise. Product specifications must be met and in conjunction, ensure the product is adhering to manufacturing capabilities at each plant location. Timely response to our customers is important to communicate and troubleshoot formula details, address problems with effective solutions, and accurate product set up. In addition, create and maintain feed labels in compliance with FDA, state, and business requirements.
  • Provide technical support across multiple departments including our customers.
  • Rework formulation. Formulation system support. Ability to utilize existing formulation tools to recognize, track and capture savings opportunities that are aligned with the direction of the SLT and/or procurement team.
  • Manage product movement/extensions across Nutra Blend facilities. Ensure that each product is set up correctly, maintaining the standard of quality no matter which facility it is manufactured at.
