About The Position

American Vanguard Corporation is a diversified agricultural and specialty products company focusing on crop protection, turf and ornamental markets, and public health applications. The AMVAC division is looking for a Formulations Manager for the Granules Department in Axis, Alabama. The Formulations Manager at AMVAC’s Axis chemical manufacturing plant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Granules formulations and packaging facilities. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement, ensuring product quality, and driving operational excellence. The successful candidate will manage, lead, coach, and develop their team while establishing and requiring a collaborative work environment. Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience required (chemical manufacturing ideal)
  • 3+ years supervisory experience required
  • Must be a role model and be recognized as a leader with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations which apply to the Facility
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and environmental compliance
  • Be able to become forklift, track mobile and yard dog certified
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
  • Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
  • Must be prompt, dependable and have a good attendance record
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Participation in the monthly safety blood draw program is required
  • Participation in the respiratory program [clean-shaven and ability to wear a respirator for safety]
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • HAZWOPER 40 hour class (will be) required

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or technical degree preferred
  • AIDT Training strongly preferred
  • Lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement methodology experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient operation of the packaging facilities
  • Coordinate packaging operations between the production unit and packaging facilities
  • Track production and make adjustments as needed to meet requirements
  • Communicate to employees expected production and safety standards
  • Document and maintain training records
  • Mentor and support Formulations Control Room Operator and Formulations Shift Supervisors
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs) to comply with company and mandated requirements
  • Track, investigate, and complete Incident Investigations (II’s) and Management of Changes (MOCs) and follow up on subsequent action items
  • Assist in Root Cause Analysis on quality issues and safety investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory safety and environmental requirements
  • Comply with and ensure compliance with all company policies, practices and lawful directives for yourself and your team
  • Manage all resources related to manpower, assets, and capabilities while juggling multiple priorities and following policies and procedures
