About The Position

MannKind Corporation focuses on the development and commercialization of innovative inhaled therapeutic products and devices to address serious unmet medical needs for those living with endocrine and orphan lung diseases. We are committed to using our formulation capabilities and device engineering prowess to lessen the burden of diseases such as diabetes, nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension. Our signature technologies – dry-powder formulations and inhalation devices – offer rapid and convenient delivery of medicines to the deep lung where they can exert an effect locally or enter the systemic circulation, depending on the target indication. We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to join the Formulation Development department supporting the formulation and process development of respiratory drug products in the MannKind pipeline.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or Pharmaceutical Engineering, preferably within 1-2 years of graduation.
• Strong foundation in science and engineering principles
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Fluency in MS Office software.
• Demonstrates eagerness to learn new techniques and procedures.
• Accuracy in following instructions, generating data, and documenting data and procedures.
• A reliable commute or the intention to find temporary housing before starting the Co-op is required.
• At this time, we are only able to consider candidates who do not require visa sponsorship, including those with a student visa.

Responsibilities

• Support development and optimization of engineered particle inhaled dosage forms.
• Perform physiochemical property characterization of drug product intermediates.
• Support batch manufacture for development, pre-clinical studies.
• Design, execute, and interpret experiments to support formulation and process development, with supervision.
• Document, compile, review, and present data.
• Handle hazardous materials and chemicals in accordance with MannKind’s safety policies and procedures
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
• Comply with good laboratory practice including maintenance of laboratory notebooks and written procedures
• Observe all Company, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines.
