POSITION SUMMARY: The General Foreman will directly supervise and coordinate activities of construction and trades workers and their helpers. Perform supervisory and management functions related to job cost accounting. May also engage in the same construction trades work as the workers being supervised.

Requirements

  • 4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supervisory role
  • Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
  • When on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods of construction practices and project execution.
  • Training and practical knowledge of construction trades.

  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of their team and your supervisor.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • May need to maintain physical strength and stamina; Use arms, hands, and legs fully; Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Stamina to perform this task repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.
  • Uncontrolled environmental conditions: Constant change in weather and site conditions.
  • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to- safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • May need to work at heights and must be able to abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements; must be able to wear and utilize all safety equipment required for work at heights.
  • Evaluate information based on measurable standards; and see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.

Responsibilities

  • Staffing and Equipment Enforce strict discipline on the jobsite with respect to safety and workplace practices as defined in Phoenix policies and project requirements.
  • Prepare and submit time records to the office in accordance with Phoenix procedures and schedules.
  • Select tools and major equipment required to best execute the work.
  • Ensure they are properly identified as Phoenix property, that they are properly used and maintained.
  • Project Execution Act as liaison with Field Superintendent.
  • Provide calculations on hours involved, materials needed, along with equipment and human resources required.
  • Coordinate, direct and lead workers engaged in construction activities.
  • Assign work to employees, using material and worker requirements data.
  • Regularly communicate with maintenance staff about repair and maintenance needs on all major pieces of equipment on assigned projects.
  • Safety Hold valid first aid and supervisor training certificates.
  • Review and approve SWPs for assigned projects.
  • Conduct and record regular safety inspections on assigned projects.
  • Promptly and accurately complete investigations and reports on all near misses and all personal injury or property damage accidents.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Manage, lead direct reports, and mentor.
