Great Plains Mfg is seeking an experienced 1st shift Forklift Operator for the welding department at our facility in Ellsworth, KS.

Requirements

  • Previous forklift operator experience is required
  • Ability to follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed PPE as required

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, forklift, hoist or crane.
  • Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Secure lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signal crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
  • Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet or computer while maintaining accurate inventory quantities.
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials; mark information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together.
  • Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist; clean work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
  • Assemble crates to contain products, such as parts or products, using handtools and precut lumber.
  • Understanding and use of AS400 and RF units to find location of parts, routing, product structure and parts availability.
  • Assist in receiving of parts from vendor and route truck.
  • Assist with cycle counts as needed.
  • Daily inspection and safe operation of forklift.
  • Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
