Summary: The Forklift Operator is responsible for controlling heavy machinery to move materials around our work site. Their duties include preparing merchandise and securing it for safe, easy transport, using radio communications to determine priorities and performing regular machine maintenance on forklifts and other tools. By loading and unloading trucks as needed, they will maintain the highest level of quality and safety in all operations. Additional shift differential for swing shift at $1.00/hr and nights at $2.00/hr.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have forklift certification
  • 2 years heavy forklift experience (inc sit-down lifts) in high volume production or distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with shipping/receiving/trucking procedures
  • Communicate with others within and outside the department
  • Ability to use small hand tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Proven problem-solving experience
  • Must be team oriented with good energy and initiative

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks
  • Maintain continuous flow of material for production line.
  • Deliver the basic supplies to each department to maintain continuity.
  • Able to warehouse finished products
  • Assist in the movement of machinery
  • Perform safety checks on vehicle
  • Fill propane cylinder.
  • Takes responsibility for 5S/Housekeeping stages, waste elimination through workplace organization.
  • Occasional removal of jammed pallets
  • Sort defective product
  • Complete shipping/receiving paperwork
  • All other duties as assigned by Management
