About The Position

The Forklift Operator moves packages and material around NWLLC facilities by operating a forklift with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety. The Forklift Operator is required to tie/bundle finished product for ease of relocation to storage areas and may be required to drive around warehouses, storage spaces and other facilities. Other miscellaneous production helper duties may be assigned as needed. The Forklift Operator must be a responsible individual with experience in driving industrial vehicles. The goal will be to ensure that material and products will always be at the right place to achieve maximum efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as Forklift Operator with demonstrated on-the-job training and mentoring by an experienced operator.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience moving large, bulky or oversized material.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and lifting devices for movement of parts.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Regularly lift, carry, pull and push 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Regularly squat, stoop, bend at waist, turn at waist to complete function above.
  • Requires regular climbing.
  • Able to wear required PPE such as but not limited to: steel toe boots, gloves, safety glasses and hard-hat.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of forklift training and certification is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and move products to/from storage areas for shipment.
  • Identify damages and report quality deficiencies.
  • Transport raw materials to production workstations.
  • Tie or strap down material.
  • May unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stack them to assigned places.
  • Assist production helpers or machine operators as needed.
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities.
  • Communicates with Supervisor, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve material needs issues.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
