About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, and stack products in the warehouse. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle, and may also be required to perform order picking, shipping, and receiving duties. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth flow of goods in and out of the warehouse, maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in product handling and inventory management.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA certification (preferred).
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and data entry (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Forklift Operation: Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, move, and stack materials and products in a timely manner.
  • Product Handling: Transport goods and materials to and from storage or loading areas, following inventory control procedures and ensuring that materials are placed in the correct locations.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Assist with loading and unloading trucks, verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, and ensuring that products are properly packed and labeled.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory counts by ensuring all materials are properly accounted for and recorded in inventory systems. Conduct periodic stock checks and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Order Picking: Retrieve products based on customer orders, ensuring accuracy in item selection and proper handling of materials.
  • Warehouse Organization: Help maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment. Ensure that all materials are stored safely and in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance of the forklift, reporting any issues to the Warehouse Supervisor. Ensure the forklift is operating properly and is kept in good condition.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures when operating machinery and handling materials. Ensure that all activities comply with OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Assist with Other Duties: Provide support for general warehouse tasks such as packing, sorting, labeling, and maintaining warehouse cleanliness as needed.
