About The Position

The Forklift Operator/Machine Operator (Production Area) supports the safe, efficient and productive set up, maintenance, and operations of machinery and forklifts (to include general maintenance, cleaning, lubrication (oiling, greasing, etc.), sample retrieval, power washing, lifting and hauling items up and down stairs, dump rework, prepare packaging, package product) as required or assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Related Experience: Previous relevant experience - preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Equipment/Software Skills: Proficient knowledge in operating Forklift and Machine utilizing in manufacture environment, Basic computer knowledge.
  • Forklift Driver/Machine Operator Physical: Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in confined spaces, and work with heights.

Responsibilities

  • Must be trained and certified on the forklift.
  • Trained and able to demonstrate hazardous chemical handling.
  • Proficient in the operation of the stretch wrappers.
  • Must be proficient with a forklift on all operations lines.
  • Load trucks in the prescribed manner.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to complete and make changes to pick sheets.
  • Communicate with visitors and customers in a professional manner.
  • Must have basic operational knowledge of roll up doors.
  • Must be able to understand the inventory procedure.
  • Trained and able to demonstrate pallet transfer operations.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to reconcile finished product.
  • Inspects machines to ensure proper functioning of machine and compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Set up manufacturing equipment.
  • Keep lines stocked with packaging materials.
  • Fill out appropriate paper related to the lines CCP’s, production, packaging materials.
  • Basic troubleshooting and repair of packaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment on the line.
  • Communicate with supervisor when line is down due to equipment or product supply.
  • Communicate with supervisor and leads when equipment needs attention.
  • Report/resolve any observed quality issues while operating line.
  • Proper start up, running and shut down of line.
  • Proper tear down, cleaning, and reassembling pumps, sanitary lines, and line equipment.
  • Knowledge of chemical handling procedures including PPE required.
  • Knowledge of process flow and ability to trace flow from source tank to filling process.
  • Basic understanding of pumps, valves, and how to change filters.
