Forklift and Building Materials Operator - Santa Clarita
About The Position
Weyerhaeuser Santa Clarita Distribution Center is currently seeking a Forklift & Building Material Operator. Under the direction of the Site Operations Manager, Operations Supervisor and designated Shift Leads, this position is responsible for all activities associated with the movement and handling of materials related to the wood products yard/warehouse. The starting pay is $20.75 per hour. We currently have opportunities on swing shift, which begins at 1pm. The Santa Clarita Distribution Center is a union facility. Key Functions: Safely operate and maintain propane or diesel forklift to move products from stock lines to staging and/or cut stations Safely load products Ensure accountability for personal safety and the safety of others by addressing any unsafe practices observed Wear all the required personal protective equipment Accurately perform basic math skills such as adding, subtracting and multiplying Accurately count units, record totals and document shipping and receiving activities Develop in depth knowledge of building material products and warehouse operations Be highly attentive and adaptive to warehouse routines Commit to quality, efficiency and continuous process improvement. This is not an inside warehouse position. This role will perform manual labor 55- 65%25 of the time. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- A positive willing to learn attitude.
- No prior forklift operator experience required. Training provided.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move or slide up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able work outside in the elements five days a week and occasional Saturdays depending on business needs.
- Ability to work on a computer.
- Ability to work cohesively in a team environment with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
