The Forest Markets Specialist will support the Growing Vermont's Forest Resilience grant for the Division of Forests. This position will be responsible for designing and leading a new Forest Resilience Endorsement Program for foresters and loggers, developing the endorsement program training curriculum on forest resilience planning and practices, and researching and developing an efficient contract rider to append to timber sale contracts. The grant is focused on elevating the role of forest management to increase resilience. Partners include UVM Extension, the Vermont Woodlands Association, Vermont Coverts, and others. This position is based in the Forest Economy Program and will serve as the primary project liaison with participating Vermont forest businesses. This position requires experience in project coordination and management, outreach and communication, stakeholder engagement, forest management, and forestry operations. Experience with small business operations and designing adult education / technical training curricula is preferred. This limited-service position is funded for a minimum of two years, with the possibility of a two-year extension based on project needs.Who May ApplyThis position, Forest Markets Specialist - Limited Service (Job Requisition #54806), is open to all State employees and external applicants.
