Job Summary:The Psychiatry and Law Service is seeking a faculty forensic psychiatrist. The position will involve half-time work on the forensic psychiatry service and half time in the Emory Clinic, some of which can be spent doing forensic cases. The forensic work will involve teaching of forensic psychiatry fellows, research on forensic issues, conducting forensic evaluations, and administrative time running and developing the service. Work in the Emory Clinic will involve seeing adult and/or child and adolescent patients, depending on training, and conducting some forensic evaluations on civil issues. Key Responsibilities:• Supervise and function as an attending on the Fulton County Jail Competency Restoration Program. • Supervise and function as an attending on treatment in the Atlanta City Detention Center. • Supervise and conduct pretrial evaluations on competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility as ordered by the Fulton County courts. • Assist in teaching forensic psychiatry in Friday seminar and as arranged to other groups (e.g., general residents). • Conduct research and present at professional meetings on topics in forensic psychiatry.• Assist in the administration of the forensic program. Over time, develop a leadership role in the forensic program. • Conduct forensic evaluations on civil legal issues and involve forensic psychiatry fellows in such evaluations. • Develop a part-time outpatient practice treating patients in the Emory Clinic.
