About The Position

The Forensic Community Support Team is a specialized program designed to support individuals who are involved in the legal system and living with significant mental health or co-occurring needs. It focuses on reducing recidivism, improving stability, and promoting successful community tenure through structured treatment, skill-building, and close collaboration with probation, courts, detention, and re-entry partners. The Forensic Community Support Team Therapist provides intensive behavioral health treatment, care coordination, and clinical guidance across office, community, and court settings while encouraging team members to bring their passion to the work, support meaningful change, and engage clients with purpose-driven care tailored to their individual needs. As part of the Forensic Community Support Team, you support a program designed to help justice-involved adults manage behavioral-health needs and maintain stability in the community. This role centers on delivering focused clinical services, coordinating with legal and community partners, and ensuring continuity of care across settings. You help clients navigate complex systems, strengthen their functioning, and work toward improved outcomes through consistent treatment and structured support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field such as social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, criminal justice, or a related area is required.
  • Meets North Carolina requirements for a Community Support Team Qualified Professional based on degree and experience is required.
  • Must complete required program, criminal justice, and CST-specific trainings upon hire.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Community Support Team services in alignment with clinical policy and program expectations.
  • Complete face-to-face functional needs assessments using the DLA-20.
  • Deliver intensive case management, care coordination, skills development, and advocacy.
  • Support members as they navigate the criminal justice process, including attending court when appropriate.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with mental health, substance use, housing, re-entry, probation, and court partners to ensure coordinated care.
  • Communicate regularly with criminal justice contacts, with proper consent, to support engagement and share updates.
  • Help members access short-term or transitional housing supports when needed.
  • Work closely with peer support and nursing staff on medication support, health education, and overall recovery planning.
  • Promote member stability by supporting goals related to housing, health, employment, and reduced criminal justice involvement.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation that reflects service delivery and adherence to program requirements.
  • Participate in required meetings, including community and criminal justice collaboration efforts.
