About The Position

ISC is seeking an experienced Foreman to lead our team with precision, safety, and efficiency on every project. Interstate Sealant & Concrete, Inc. (ISC) is a nationally recognized leader in pavement maintenance solutions. Since 1998, we have specialized in delivering high-quality concrete and asphalt maintenance services to clients across the continental United States. Our projects span state and federal highways, civilian and military airports, and commercial facilities, ensuring safe, durable, and cost-effective infrastructure. JOB SUMMARY Provide day to day operation of a designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and budget. Schedule, coordinate and supervise work crews providing overall technical direction. Must be able to perform all general labor tasks and fill in as necessary. Assist other ISC supervisors and office staff in providing all written documentation; work as a team to have the most successful outcome of a roadway or airport project.

Requirements

  • Required to maintain a valid driver’s license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory construction experience or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction technology, equipment, and methods of application plus hands-on experience in craft and labor coordination.
  • Thorough understanding of Company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication and analytical skills are a necessity including the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Repeatedly stand, walk and sit, climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, bend body downward and forward, bending at the knees, and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work long hours and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, or noxious chemicals, and is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. Working conditions are usually moderate to loud.
  • Must be able to rotate from tasks including driving with trailer to lifting boxes, working with sealing equipment, small machinery, flagging, concrete repair including occasional jackhammer usage.
  • Must be able to understand and follow directions and work as a team for the good of the project.
  • Must be able to maintain and fill out fleet reports for vehicles, daily reports and timesheets as well as report any maintenance issues/cleaning of vehicle.
  • Able to properly use tools and equipment.
  • Ability to wear active personal protective equipment. (Hard hat, hearing protection, safety vest, goggles/safety glasses, respirator, etc.)
  • Ability to complete physical qualifications to maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • May be at risk of electrical shock and exposed to vibration
  • Must pass a DOT physical qualification to maintain a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Direct small-large projects utilizing ISC and subcontractors. Communicating daily, as needed, with Vice President of Operations, Project Manager, Project Contract Administrator and office staff. Projects may be assigned anywhere given the supervisor’s experience.
  • Initiate and maintain communications with Owner of project and Prime Contractor contacts to facilitate repair/sealing activities.
  • Oversee/monitor/control projects in accordance with design of plans, specs and schedule to ensure it is on time and within budget. Investigate potential problems and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent company in project meetings, problem solving in field operations, etc.
  • Assist PMs with financial aspects of contracts (municipal charges, rental equipment, credit card receipts) to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good client relations.
  • Inspect work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used. Coordinate with appropriate personnel and vendors to ensure adequate flow of material and equipment.
  • Lead employees with sound judgment and personal character and integrity. Maintain agreeable work conditions for all.
  • Assist in resolving problems (lack of productivity, workflow, jobsite conditions, etc.) as required. Must be able to motivate work force in team huddles approach in beginning and at the end of day. Included in the team huddle is your evaluation of any employee who may be under the influence or is unable to function. During the team huddle, daily goals are set so employees know what they have to accomplish for that day.
  • Coordinate and assign work to the crew, direct, inspect and review their assignments and be responsible for accuracy, quality and completeness. Conduct performance reviews, verbal or written coaching as needed; working with office staff to document sessions.
  • Conduct Monday morning Toolbox Safety Talks, submitting weekly documentation. Monitor work compliance with OSHA and project safety requirements; include ISC’s Safety Plan & Hazcom Policy. When accidents or problems occur, documents and ensure corrective measures are implemented. And call HR and Operations Manager as soon as incident happens.
  • Must hold all employees accountable for compliance with D.O.T. regulations, the ISC Fleet Safety Program, vehicle and equipment management and maintenance including good housekeeping of both.
  • Oversee and process day-to-day administrative items (i.e., charge card receipts, personnel forms, time sheets, job quantities, DOT & OSHA reporting, etc.)
  • Maintain official project log & documentation files, hard copy and e-file. Support other ISC personnel as required.
  • Perform additional duties as required by project or company operating needs.
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings and supervisory meetings as required.
  • Attending seminars and continuing education as advised.
