About The Position

At the end of the workday, the Foreman walks off the job each day already planning how to be more productive tomorrow. Typically, the Foreman will plan work 3 weeks in advance and knows when to schedule the arrival of equipment, materials, and manpower. Must be able to effectively communicate planning with the Superintendent and crew. Strong leadership skills are required to be able to lead your crew. GROUP Foremen are required to know the trade of work of the employees being supervised. Must be able to direct daily construction activities of heavy equipment operators and laborers working on company projects, must be willing to work alongside crew-members if needed and monitor job specifications to ensure a quality final product.

Requirements

  • 5+ years field experience as Construction Foreman
  • Must hold NCCER Industrial Carpenter Certification or willing to test
  • Must hold a valid TWIC Card
  • Must hold a valid OSHA Basic Plus
  • Must undergo Pre-Employment Screening (physical, drug & alcohol screen, audiogram, fit test if applicable)
  • Experience reading blue prints / drawings
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and understanding of mapping concepts
  • Ability to use math/complete calculations
  • Understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems

Responsibilities

  • Studies project specifications with project superintendent; plans construction activities based on project characteristics.
  • Outlines and supervises daily activities of 2-15 heavy equipment operators and/or laborers through project duration – adjusts work schedules as needed.
  • Coordinates work assignments with superintendent to ensure safe work practices & deadlines are met.
  • Proficiently sets grade for cuts and fills using grade rod, levels, transits, gps, etc.
  • Communicates cut/fill depths to operators based on grade staking or project specifications.
  • Works with human resources personnel and other members of management, as needed, to resolve onsite complaints and grievances within workforce.
  • Continually inspects assigned work area ensuring results meet or exceed project specifications.
  • Inspects work site to determine proper sequencing of activities and survey for potential hazards or safety concerns.
  • Responsible for crew safety; conducts task training for new employees and advancing operators.
