Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of carpentry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Hour (Preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of construction specifications, methods, and procedures (e.g., self-perform work, subcontracted work scopes, temporary work, equipment).
  • Experience utilizing CAD and/or PDF Editors.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all responsibilities of skilled on-site crews being led.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Basic knowledge of productivity rates.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with supervisors and subcontractors, and reports.
  • Basic knowledge of material, labor, and equipment takeoffs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to safely operate company-owned vehicles on-site and on roadways.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to effectively plan, lead, and direct crews.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Able to complete occasional field work as required.

Responsibilities

  • Staff management for Carpentry department (ensure proper staffing for project completion, training, conduct annual reviews, etc.).
  • Maintain a balanced crew in accordance with the blended crew rate for your department.
  • Participate in shop drawing reviews to ensure effective means of producing work and verifying constructibility of designs.
  • As requested, effectively review new scopes of work to advise effective means of producing and provide input on anticipated labor requirements for work completion.
  • Present approval documents for project completion.
  • Maintain efficient and cost-effective approaches.
  • Provide estimates for anticipated level of effort required to complete work.
  • Complete material takeoffs and material requisitions for new work orders.
  • Complete payroll on a weekly basis for department staff.
  • Oversee production of active work orders and ensure proper progression to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Communicate and work effectively with other foremen.
  • Maintain the facility and equipment conditions.
  • Oversee bulk material inventory.
  • Communicate ideas for improvements and/or alternatives for processes.
  • Other duties are assigned.
