About The Position

The Foreman Electrician leads field crews while performing skilled electrical work on public works projects. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and specifications. The Foreman Electrician coordinates with project managers, enforces safety standards, mentors crew members, and actively contributes to installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. A valid California State General Electrician License is required. This position requires flexibility to travel to projects throughout California, work across multiple shifts, and maintain a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years as a certified electrician, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Required certifications include California State General Electrician License.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel to job sites.
  • Expert communication (verbal and written) with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Advanced leadership, mentoring, and team management capabilities.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to OSHA regulations and site safety protocols.
  • Advanced problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills for crew and project issues.
  • Electrical installation, maintenance, and repair (conduit, wiring, panels, outlets, lighting).
  • Knowledge of NEC, state, and local electrical codes, construction materials, and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • OSHA compliance and workplace safety expertise; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Proficient with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and digital reporting.
  • English fluency; Spanish skills a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Public works, roadway, or high-traffic construction experience preferred.
  • Additional certifications preferred: Forklift Inspection and Safety, First Aid/CPR, OSHA 30, Environmental Hazards of Highway Work, Traffic Control/Flagging, Confined Space, Aerial, Railroad.
  • OSHA compliance and workplace safety expertise; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Spanish skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct electricians, apprentices, and laborers, ensuring the crew works safely, productively, and in alignment with project goals.
  • Perform and oversee electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs according to blueprints, specifications, and project timelines, holding the team accountable to scope and standards.
  • Establish and maintain safe and organized jobsites by conducting daily huddles, enforcing OSHA and company safety standards, and ensuring all hazards are addressed immediately.
  • Inspect electrical work and overall jobsite conditions regularly to verify compliance with NEC, state, and local codes, as well as Mendoza’s standards of quality, cleanliness, and discipline.
  • Complete and submit accurate daily reports, safety logs, and material tracking to provide transparency and accountability to management.
  • Coach and mentor crew members, transferring technical skills, reinforcing cultural alignment, and developing future leaders in line with The Mendoza Way.
  • Manage and safeguard all tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring efficient use, responsible care, and readiness for both current and future projects.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, and other trades to resolve issues quickly and maintain project momentum.
  • Plan and adjust work schedules as needed to meet project deadlines, moving with urgency and clarity to keep the team aligned and productive.
