About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) Specialist to lead and manage customs compliance activities within our organization. This full-time position plays a critical role in ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and supports broader import/export operations. The FTZ Specialist will report to the Customs Compliance Specialist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in international trade/business, Supply Chain, or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in U.S. FTZ operations and compliance or customs brokerage
  • At least 1 year of experience with HTS classification
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) and FTZ operations
  • Proven ability to classify goods accurately and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Experience developing and implementing import/export compliance programs
  • Familiarity with FDA, EPA, and other regulatory agency requirements and trade agreements
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with U.S. Customs or international trade regulatory agencies preferred
  • Familiarity with the ACE system and Oracle or similar ERP systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison for all FTZ-related communications with CBP and internal stakeholders
  • Manage daily import activities, coordinating with customs brokers, vendors, carriers, and freight forwarders
  • Prepare and submit FTZ documentation, including, but not limited to: e214 Admissions, Weekly Withdrawals (CF3461/CF7501), Zone Transfers (CF7512), and Quarterly and Annual Reports
  • Oversee FTZ operations, including daily transactions, inventory reconciliation, and audit readiness
  • Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure compliance with country-specific regulations
  • Collaborate with government agencies (FDA, EPA, CBP) and manage compliance with trade programs (FTA, AD/CVD, Section 201/301/232, quotas)
  • Monitor U.S. imports for timely customs clearance and proactively resolve issues
  • Reconcile inventory records between internal systems and third-party FTZ platforms
  • Conduct internal audits and recommend process improvements
  • Review commercial invoices for outbound shipments to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain and update the FTZ Procedures Manual in collaboration with the FTZ Project Manager
  • Ensure complete and accurate FTZ recordkeeping for CBP audits and reviews
  • Support the logistics and compliance team with additional duties as assigned
