About The Position

Ford Racing is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of automotive innovation and performance, committed to delivering cutting-edge technology to the track and the road. They are looking for an experienced, talented, and highly motivated Advanced Systems Engineer to join their team. This position will focus on underbody system development, including mechanical package, chassis kinematics, powertrain package, and chassis system selection for future production vehicles. The role requires demonstrated vehicle chassis experience, problem-solving skills, a passion for performance, and a strong interest in technology. The engineer will interface with various teams such as vehicle dynamics specialists, mechanical and e-drive powertrain engineers, NVH experts, road load durability teams, and performance attribute owners, offering opportunities to expand technical knowledge across a wide range of automotive technologies, systems, and components.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an architecture/systems, chassis, vehicle dynamics, or vehicle integration role.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in design and product life cycle management tools CATIA, Teamcenter, VisMockup, and KBE Tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the unique high performance vehicle customers and the unique use case for road, track, desert running, rock crawling, etc.
  • Ability to develop clear working level documents and management presentations as well as clear/concise communication skills to both peers and higher level leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several unique and complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in vehicle attribute development areas a plus; such as vehicle dynamics, NVH, etc.
  • Experience in Powertrain / Drivetrain hardware selection and/or design.
  • Experience in vehicle assembly manufacturing a plus.
  • Experience in designing castings, forgings, and/or structural components.
  • Experience in design and optimization software such as Simcenter, Simsolid, Fusion360.
  • Experience in leading and coordinating prototype builds.
  • Experience as a Design and Release Engineer (D&R / DRE).
  • Related “hands on” skills such as fabrication, amateur racing, on/off-road race support.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Ford Racing planning team in the development of future production and motorsports vehicles focusing on chassis, powertrain and body structure systems. Projects may include ground-up vehicles or platform derivatives for track or off-road segments.
  • Coordinate design efforts between cross-functional activities (D&R, Vehicle Engineering, Chassis, VO, Suppliers) to ensure architectural compatibility between mechanical package, occupants and intended design requirements.
  • Lead development of solutions and alternatives to meet the mechanical package and related targets.
  • Develop and maintain suspension and tire motion models, system selection documents and program Specific data in support of the vehicle design.
