Responsible for sanitation of main kitchen and all food service equipment. Retrieves soiled patient trays. Inventories and stocks supplies in unit kitchens. Assists in training of other food service workers. Caregivers give everything that helps patients heal, from expertise to extra attention. They give clean, comfortable rooms. Fast, accurate answers. Requirements

  • Requires the ability to carry out instructions and procedures that are standardized.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Understanding of basic weights and measures.
  • Understanding of basic mathematical functions.
  • Ability to stoop and lift 30 pounds and push and pull 300 pounds.
  • Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Completes setup, stock and sanitation of workstations following standard procedures.
  • Collects and disposes of all refuse according to department policy.
  • Hand washes pots/pans according to standard procedure.
  • Operates and cleans mechanical ware washing machines according to standard procedures.
  • Cleans steam kettles, grills, ovens, carts, exhaust hood, refrigerators, tray line equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, and other related equipment according to standard procedures.
  • Stores various food, paper and chemical supplies in appropriate areas.
  • Fills handwashing soap and paper towel dispensers.
  • Rotates and dates items following standard procedures.
  • Stores perishables in an appropriate manner.
  • Cleans work area, equipment in main kitchen and/or patient units as directed.
  • Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains work area in clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Maintains equipment in good working order.
  • Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown immediately to supervisor.
  • May be required to operate power floor washing equipment.
