About The Position

As part of the UST team and broader Tech24 network, the Foodservice PM (Hot-Side) Technician supports senior technicians in performing preventative maintenance (PM) and basic service on commercial foodservice equipment. This role is designed for individuals who are mechanically inclined and eager to grow within the skilled trades. The PM Apprentice will focus primarily on preventative maintenance, system inspection, basic repairs, and learning diagnostic procedures under the supervision of experienced technicians.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of related mechanical, HVAC, appliance repair, automotive, or foodservice equipment experience preferred
  • Trade school or technical school training strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently once trained
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems and electrical components
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters
  • Must be willing to participate in on-call rotation as skills progress

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with preventative maintenance on foodservice equipment (ovens, fryers, steamers, griddles, warmers, etc.)
  • Perform routine PM tasks such as testing gas pressure, calibrating temperatures, cleaning equipment, inspecting electrical connections, and verifying overall system performance
  • Identify and report any early signs of system wear or failure to senior technicians
  • Support basic troubleshooting and minor repairs under supervision
  • Accurately document service calls, parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions in company system
  • Maintain organized truck inventory and ensure proper care of tools and equipment
  • Follow all safety regulations and company policies
  • Deliver professional and courteous customer service while onsite
  • Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development opportunities
  • Gradually assume greater responsibility as skills and certifications are achieved
