About The Position

Responsible for ensuring high quality meals are served and maintaining kitchen operations to meet all specified guidelines of the program.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and/or GED preferred
  • preferably with one to three years' experience and or training; or equivalent combination of both education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares/serves meals to resident clients, staff, and visitors in family-style atmosphere ensuing nutritional needs met as defined by Consultant Qualified Dietitian.
  • Assists with Direct Care duties/program plans as scheduled, including client's goals, objectives, hygiene, etc.)
  • Instruct clients in meal preparation as scheduled/according to individual IPPs.
  • Responsible for all kitchen sanitation on shift.
  • Responsible for requisitioning/purchasing/maintaining adequate food items supply, including weekend meals, while remaining within prescribed budget.
  • Ensure food is stored properly, dated, content labeled, and within expiration dates.
  • Responsible for maintaining Commodity Temperature log.
  • Supervises kitchen area in accordance with facility infection control guidelines and ICF/IID regulations.
  • Assures implementation of clients' Diet plan as prescribed by dietitian/physician, including food portion size/restrictions.
  • Assists with residents as needed (bathing, shaving, etc.)
  • Responsible for client transportation according to training schedules or as needed.
  • Responsible for data collection and completion of appropriate forms/reports. (Objectives, BIRs, Daily checklists)
  • Assists in picking trash up around the facility.
  • Assists in van cleaning/maintenance as needed.
  • Responsible for monitoring one client's room weekly and assisting with cleaning/organizing.
  • Assists in clerical duties as assigned.
  • Acquires TB card and updates as required.
  • Maintains CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Attends training as required by FCC and OLTC.
  • Maintains valid driver's license.
  • Conducts all drills pertaining to shift.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within position realm for ongoing facility operations.
  • Responsible for laundering contaminated linens, discards, daily or as needed, receptacles containing contaminated waste.
  • Serves as Driver for participant day trips to various state locations.
  • Driving may be required on as much as a daily basis.
  • Required to undergo periodic driving test and demonstrate proficiency in the operation of a motor vehicle, including passenger vans.
  • Employees may also be required to drive his/her own personal vehicle at times and maintain adequate liability coverage on any personal vehicle used to transport participants.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc., Senior Center programs, and clients.
  • Conditions of confidentiality shall be in compliance with Friendship Community Care Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA Policies.
