About The Position

This role is for a Child Care Cook, also known as a Food Specialist, responsible for the overall food preparation for children enrolled in the school. The specialist must be able to adapt to menu changes and adhere to meal and snack schedules. The position involves creating home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school's menu and budget, while also complying with state and federal requirements. Additionally, the Food Specialist will prepare and distribute meals and snacks to children and staff in classrooms, focusing on health and safety by following daily menus that incorporate USDA, licensing, and health department regulations. The role also requires maintaining inventory of food and supplies, ordering as needed, and assisting in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher/Floater when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritional meal plans in the boundaries of their school's menu and budget, as well as state and federal requirements
• Prepare meals/snacks for children and staff and distribute food to the classrooms
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director which incorporates USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater
