About The Position

This position performs a variety of assigned duties, including assisting patients with menu selection, handling accurate cash and charge transactions in compliance with department procedures, and assembling and delivering trays, snacks, tube feedings, and nourishment. The role also involves customer relations and service delivery, food preparation and storage, and general sanitation of the department. Responsibilities extend to general food service tasks such as storeroom duties, tray assembly and/or delivery, and related cleaning. The associate is required to log temperatures according to documentation requirements, operate a cash register for customer sales, balance the cash drawer, and make deposits when necessary. Additionally, the role includes cleaning and sanitizing equipment and areas, providing catering services for events and meetings, and meeting with patients to obtain menu and snack selections based on physician diet orders.

Requirements

  • SERV-Safe Certification or equivalent certification from the Virginia Health Department or the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire date required for employees deemed in charge of departmental operations
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Position is deemed emergency personnel during emergency weather conditions
  • Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites
  • May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One or more years of food service experience

Responsibilities
