About The Position

Essential Functions: • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and cafeteria before, during and after all meals including but not limited to washing dishes, utensils, equipment, tables, trays and other areas as indicated by the Food Services Director. • Maintain current knowledge of USDA guidelines for implementation. • Assist with meal preparation including but not limited to use of proper food handling techniques, proper portions and scoops, timeliness of serving line and following set menus and guidelines. • Distribute food to individual residences according to menus and adhere to any special dietary restrictions of students. • Assist with receiving, inspecting, storing and dispensing food to ensure that quantities and freshness are correct. • Provide a friendly environment for students and staff at all times. • Assist other departments during Holidays, special events and outings to adjust menus as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Must be at least 18 years old Must pass background checks and drug screen. Knowledge of: • Disabilities and the organization’s mission • Modern cooking methods, materials and equipment used in food service • USDA guidelines, OHSA and other safety standards including health hazards and preventative measures. Skills in: • Following a standardized recipe • Use of a food thermometer in measuring hot and cold temperature of food • Using standard kitchen equipment Ability to: • Think and act quickly in the event of an emergency. • Accept responsibility and use good judgment. • Deal tactfully with co-workers, clients and the general public. • Evaluate situations and make decisions that relate to the operation of the cafeteria • Communicate verbally and in writing, with all individuals associated with KDS. • Kneel, bend and clean on knees; move furniture and lift items that weigh at least 40 lbs.; stock shelves which includes being able to lift items over your head and stack them onto shelves; mopping, sweeping, and moving chairs, tables and appliances. • Be present at scheduled times and dressed according to policy guidelines. • Express ideas clearly and concisely. Requirements
