Summary: Tray passer The Food Service Worker performs a variety of essential functions related to the safe and efficient assembly, distribution, and service of meals for hospital patients, staff, and visitors. This role supports day-to-day food service operations while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and excellent customer service.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

- Staff adheres to all I C.A.R.E. Standards.
- Must be able to read menu items in English (exception is the pot-washer position).
- Must be able to communicate in English (exception is the pot-washer position).
- Must be able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Work requires ability to push trucks and carts with food and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Attend department meetings, in-services, and training sessions as assigned.
- Anticipate and respond to customer needs in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain the cleanliness of work areas and department equipment.
- Demonstrate a friendly and positive attitude when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
- Follow all HACCP food safety standards and hospital protocols.
- Communicate concerns, shortages, or discrepancies to supervisors promptly.
- Support department goals related to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Work in various roles, including the tray line, cafeteria, and kitchen stations.
- Set up and stock food stations for meal service; assemble and deliver patient trays.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, stations, and floors after each meal period.
- May operate dish machines, trash compactors, and perform general cleaning tasks.
- Prepare supplemental food items for patient tray service.
- Participate in sanitation and cleaning projects as assigned by the manager.
- Assist with the training and cross-training of new and existing employees.
