About The Position

Prepares nutritious meals according to United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines and maintains compliance with all local, state and federal food and health regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Or GED
  • A minimum of (1) year work related experience
  • Knowledge of safety practices as they relate to young children.
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in working with young children and families.
  • Certified Professional Food Manager, Food Safety Manager Certification County of Fort Bend Food Managers Certification or able to obtain within 180 Days

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Follows standardized recipes to prepare all meals and makes appropriate food substitutions with similar nutritional value when necessary.
  • Prepares appropriate meals for special dietary children daily.
  • Completes Daily Meal Production Record (Form 1530) prior to serving meals daily.
  • Orders food and milk as necessary from appropriate food and dairy vendors.
  • Maintains safe and sanitary practices in preparing, transporting, and serving food which includes keeping kitchen and all kitchen equipment and supplies sanitary.
  • Maintains proper storage area using the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) method.
  • Empties kitchen wastebaskets, transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Compiles and maintains departmental records.
  • Must be able to operate standard kitchen equipment including small and large appliances
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
