About The Position

The Food & Beverage team ensures a consistent guest experience by maintaining fresh, in-stock, accurately priced, and signed products on the sales floor. This team specializes in operations, process, and efficiency, leading all food and food services, including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all Food & Beverage areas of the store. The Food Service Team Leader role at Target is designed to provide meaningful experiences that help build and develop career skills. These include guest service fundamentals, fostering a guest-first and freshness culture, understanding Food & Beverage business fundamentals (department sales trends, freshness, food safety and quality, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions strategies), planning daily/weekly workload to meet business priorities and sales, and leading a team of hourly members through interviewing, training, coaching, evaluating, retaining, and developing talent.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• Strong interest and knowledge of the food service business
• Ability to lead and hold others accountable
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
• Ability to interpret instructions, reports and information
• Ability to accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Ability to climb up and down ladders if needed
• Ability to scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary
• Ability to work in environments that will include refrigeration and freezer temperatures and conditions; where common allergens may also be handled or present
• Capability of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties, including but not limited to Drive-Ups, carryout, etc.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shifts (shift length may vary)
• Food Safety Manager Certification

Responsibilities

• Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience.
• Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
• Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
• Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, align team on the right behaviors and execution, celebrate wins, drive results that deliver outcomes and elevate the guest experience.
• Understand sales goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including planning food service transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, promotions and price change workload.
• Assign daily tasks to TMs based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with weekly and monthly business priorities set by your direct leader.
• Assess Food Service back of house, production areas, dining spaces and merchandising spaces to ensure food safety and proper inventory levels with guidance from your direct leader.
• Walk Food & Beverage Standards and Food Service routines daily to assess priorities and review reporting to identify business gaps for follow-up.
• Follow all food safety requirements and cleaning routines, including monitoring and recording temperature sensitive food items, as outlined in Target’s policies and procedures.
• Validate and follow-up on team members’ progress against department checklists and routines.
• Lead team to uphold and maintain all Starbucks and Pizza Hut Brand Standards and production specifications (where applicable).
• Ensure accurate in-stocks by placing store-initiated orders according to best practices.
• Follow proper perishable inventory management procedures to ensure an accurate recording of inventory.
• Make production quantity decisions just in time to ensure freshness, in-stocks, sales and profitability are achieved consistently.
• Remain up-to-date on relevant trends and products to educate team members.
• Participate in team hiring and onboarding processes.
• Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations at the direction of your direct leader.
• Complete all Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut training requirements and certifications.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; lead your team to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment.
• Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, holding team accountable to following safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting/investigating injuries timely and accurately.

• Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing all best practices; help close skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions.
• Model the execution of physical security processes in order to enhance the instore security culture.
• Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store, including ordering, storage and application as directed by best practices.
• If applicable, as a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes.
• Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience for the store during assigned shifts based on store needs.
• Address all store emergency and compliance needs.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive-up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.
