The Opportunity… Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility is seeking a Food Services Supervisor to support our dietary department with daily food preparation, meal service, and overall kitchen operations

Requirements

  • Completion of 1 yr. trg. program in food service management; 12 mos. exp. in food service preparation; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development.
  • Or Completion of 2 yr. trg. program in food service preparation or hospitality management technology or 2 yrs. exp. in food service preparation; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development.
  • Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily food service operations, including ingredient room activities, equipment use, sanitation, and meal preparation across assigned shifts.
  • Leads and develops staff by providing orientation, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, monitoring attendance, approving leave/overtime, and participating in applicant interviews.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional policies, NSLA requirements, Department of Health guidelines, and ACA standards
  • Manages food procurement and quality control through weekly ordering, inspection of incoming products, and participation in menu planning.
  • Maintains cost control and sanitary standards by monitoring kitchen conditions, conducting weekly sanitation and safety inspections, and enforcing food limits.
  • Assists in overseeing the youth work program, including hiring, training, supervising, and providing disciplinary or positive reports for resident youth workers.
  • Provides operational coverage and leadership by coordinating staffing for special events, substituting for absent staff, and assuming Food Service Manager duties when needed.
