About The Position

Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, OK is currently hiring for Food Service staff. This role involves handling, preparing, cooking, and serving food, with a focus on catering to regular, modified, and special dietary needs. A key aspect of the position is ensuring all work, preparation, and serving areas are kept clean and sanitary. Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) is located in Norman, Oklahoma, and serves all 77 counties in Oklahoma as a Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) treatment center for adults. GMH is a 120-bed acute psychiatric hospital serving persons aged 18 and over with severe mental illness and provides in-patient hospital care for those in need of mental health & substance abuse services. The agency requires coverage 24 hours, 7 days per week, and work hours and location may vary depending on business necessity.

Requirements

  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to accommodate dietary modifications (e.g., special diets for medical or health conditions)
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple food preparation and serving tasks efficiently
  • For Level I: No experience required
  • For Level II: One year of experience in a commercial or institutional food service or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of vocational or technical school training in food preparation for the required experience
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently
  • Able to push and pull a maximum force of 50 pounds
  • Willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position
  • Valid driver’s license
