About The Position

Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma, is currently hiring for Food Service staff. This role involves handling, preparing, cooking, and serving food, while also catering to regular, modified, and special dietary needs. A key responsibility is ensuring all work, preparation, and serving areas are kept clean and sanitary. Applicants should possess an understanding of food safety and sanitation protocols, the ability to accommodate dietary modifications for medical or health conditions, and strong organizational skills to efficiently manage multiple food preparation and serving tasks. Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) is a 120-bed acute psychiatric hospital located in Norman, Oklahoma, serving adults aged 18 and over with severe mental illness and providing in-patient hospital care for mental health and substance abuse services. The agency requires coverage 24 hours, 7 days per week, and work hours and location may vary depending on business necessity.

Requirements

  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Ability to accommodate dietary modifications (e.g., special diets for medical or health conditions).
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple food preparation and serving tasks efficiently.
  • Level I: No experience required.
  • Level II: one year of experience in a commercial or institutional food service or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of vocational or technical school training in food preparation for the required experience.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently.
  • Able to push and pull a maximum force of 50 pounds.
  • Willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position.
  • Valid driver’s license.
