About The Position

Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a need for a Food Service Helper. This is a full-time, 10-month position. This position is unique to serving the needs of our diverse student population and assisting in the operations of the school kitchen, in a friendly and professional manner.Duties may include the following:

Requirements

• The successful candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent, be physically able to perform job-related duties, follow written and oral instructions thoroughly and be proficient in organizational and communication skills.
• Familiar with proper methods of serving food
• Familiar with proper care of tableware, glassware, silverware, kitchen appliances
• Working knowledge of modern cleaning methods & use of cleaning supplies & appliances

Responsibilities

• Clean and organize the cafeteria prep and serving area
• Assist kitchen staff with food prep and meal serving
• Utilize POS system for student transactions
• Assist with inventory management
• Bank deposits, as needed
• Other duties as assigned
