About The Position

The mission of 4-H Camp Bristol Hills is to provide youth with a unique, fun outdoor experience under the guidance of positive role models, emphasizing positive social interaction, environmental awareness, and skill building. The Food Service Director is responsible for the planning and implementing of camp meals, and supervising Assistant Food Service Director, Food Service Workers, and Assistant Counselor Staff in the kitchen. The Food Service Director is not required to live on the camp property. Duration The summer camp season includes 1 week of preparation, 1 week of pre-camp staff training and 5 weeks of residential camp that run from Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon each week from June 18 -August 8, 2025. The Food Service Director is responsible for the cleaning and closing of the camp’s kitchen facility. The Food Service Director may also be invited to oversee kitchen operations for Camp rental groups as needed, until August 31, 2025.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Experience with food management
  • Ability to cook for large groups
  • Food handler’s certificate, as required by local and state law
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Camp Director, entire camp staff, campers and camp families
  • Incorporates Team Work and Flexibility into their daily work style

Responsibilities

  • Make all food purchases in consultation with Camp Manager
  • Keep records of all food purchases at the beginning and during camp season, including quantities used and food returned or sold to dealers.
  • Check incoming food against food invoices.
  • Plan menus and control food budget, figuring meal costs and per person per day costs.
  • Strictly enforce sanitary standards based on State Health Codes.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, including Assistant Counselors, by creating schedules and specific responsibilities
  • Respond to health and safety concerns and address improper behavior of kitchen staff
  • Create an inventory of all kitchen equipment before the season and upon the completion of the season.
  • Implement efficient meal time procedures
  • Assist in filling requisition requests for special meals and foods for classes
  • Support and embrace diversity in all interactions with campers, other staff members, volunteers and parents.
  • Implement programs that engage diverse backgrounds, interests and learning styles.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required
